About The Cultural Arts Showcase

BREVARD'S BIGGEST CELEBRATION OF THE ARTS!

OCTOBER 30, 2016 :: NOON – 6PM
KING CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS

The Cultural Arts Showcase is a FREE one-day family festival of the performing and cultural arts held annually.  Presented by the Brevard Symphony Orchestra and King Center for the Performing Arts, the festival includes arts activities, cultural demonstrations & LIVE performances throughout the day including the BSO’s Annual Family Concert hosted by Mike & Mindy from Lite Rock 99.3!

HOW TO GET THERE

Where will the Cultural Arts Showcase be?

CAS2016 will be at the King Center for the Performing Arts in Melbourne, Florida.  The King Center is located on the grounds of Eastern Florida State College, formerly Brevard Community College.  The Brevard Symphony Orchestra will perform a FREE family concert in the main theater.  Festivities will take place along the outside covered walkway, the Rotunda and Studio Theater.

Directions & Parking

The King Center is located at 3865 N. Wickham Road in Melbourne, Florida, on the corner of Post Road and Wickham Road.

Parking   

Ample free parking is available to all King Center guests. The earlier you arrive, the closer you may park.

Directions

Directions from Interstate 95: Take the CR-509/Wickham Road exit, Exit 191, toward Satellite Beach/Patrick Air Force Base. Turn east onto CR-509/S. Wickham Road and take the road for about 7 miles. Turn left onto Post Road. The King Center entrance is on the south side of Post Road.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need tickets?

No tickets are required for this event.  The entire event is FREE!


Is seating for the performances guaranteed?

All seating is first-come, first serve.  Doors to all areas, except the main auditorium, will open at noon.  Doors to the main auditorium will open at 1:00pm.


Can I bring my dog?

As much as we love Fluffy and Spot, please leave your four legged friends at home.  The majority of activities and performances are held indoors.  Pets are not allowed at the event except certified service animals.


Can I bring a picnic?

Yes, you are welcomed to bring a picnic and sit on the grassy areas. No alcohol is allowed to be brought into the event, but is available for purchase in the concessions area.  Please keep all walkways clear and dispose of all trash.  All bags, baskets, coolers, etc., are subject to search and may not be left alone.


Can I take photos with participants?

Yes, some of our costumed participants and BSO musicians will be happy to take photos with you.  Please be considerate and always ask before taking a photo.  And…don’t forget to say “Thank You!”

We will also have a selfie booth available for your use in the King Center lobby next to the BSO table.  Use #CASFL2016 and tag @CulturalArtsShowcase on Facebook.


Is smoking allowed at the event?

Smoking is permitted on the outside of the King Center.  Please be considerate of other guests and do not stand within 20 feet of entrances and exits.


Is there a fee to attend the Showcase?

Admission to the event is FREE.  NO TICKETS REQUIRED.

  • There will be food vendors selling their products during the event for a fee.
  • Some arts organizations will have event tickets, season subscriptions, and memberships available for purchase.
  • Payment types may vary, please verify with individual vendors prior to purchasing.

Will I have a seat for the performances?

All seats are on a first-come, first-serve basis.

  • Main Theater seats 2,200
  • Studio Theater seats 280

 

Please be considerate of other guests at the event and fill in the rows all the way across.

Do I have to pay for parking?

Parking at the King Center and around the campus of Eastern Florida State College is FREE.


Where do I park?

There are parking lots surrounding the venue that are available for event attendees.

Parking is FREE, on a first-come, first serve basis.

Please park in designated areas only. Vehicles that are parked illegally in and around the venue are subject to ticketing and may be towed at the owner’s expense. Don’t miss your chance to show off your talent

Accessibility

The King Center strives to make the theatre experience enjoyable and comfortable for all guests. Among the services the King Center offers for guests with disabilities and impairments are:  Wheelchair accessible seating on the orchestra level. Wheelchair assistance available at the guest service entrance to the right of the main entrance.  Wheelchair storage. If you wish to transfer from a wheelchair to a seat, you can request to have your wheelchair stored during the performance. Please let guest services know if you will need assistance during intermission. After the event, the staff member will return your wheelchair to your seat.  Wheelchair accessible restrooms.  Elevator access. The grand tier level of the theatre is not wheelchair accessible. However, an elevator is located at house left and accesses the mezzanine/Crown Club level as well as row PP in the grand tier. Please be advised that the seats in the grand tier are numbered with seat 1 being the furthest away from the elevator, and seat 60 being the closest.  Seating for guests with hearing and sight impairments.  Assistive listening devices for guests with hearing impairments. 


Where can I get some cash?

There is an ATM located in lobby of the King Center.
